New Concrete5 Version Coming Soon!

A release candidate for the next major version of concrete5 is now available! That means a stable version of the new Concrete5 should be available in the next two weeks.  In addition to better password security, this release fixes many bugs and includes language files, meaning you no longer need to download them separately to install concrete5 in a language other than English.

Learn Why Social Media Will Become Your Biggest Ranking Factor in the Future

We've been saying for nearly two years now that if you want your website to rank well in the future on Google you have to start doing social media optimization now.  We have seen where Google has been heading for a while now and telling our clients that social media is going to become more and more important for them going forward.  Just three weeks ago Google's John Muller hinted that is the case when he said, "We use many signals.  Links aren't necessarily the most important thing on the web."

Click Through Rates By Position in Organic Search Engine Results

Have you ever wondered how many more clicks someone that ranks position #1 on page #1 on Google?  Here are some interesting facts:

  • Position #1 on average gets 33.4% of all traffic from a Google search
  • Position #2 gets 17.5%
  • Position #3 gets 12% of the clicks.

How to Choose the Best Keywords for Local SEO

One of the things we do early on with a new search engine optimization (SEO) client is help them develop a list of keywords that they would want to optimize for their website.  Usually we keep the list to around 15-20 keywords to start with.  The list of SEO keywords are the words/phrases that we want the site to come up for in Google, Yahoo and Bing when a user does a search.  For some sites this isn't as easy as one would think.
