Pixo has always seen itself a leader in cutting edge website design. But lately we noticed that some of the websites we were building for our clients were more cutting edge than our own. Any good website needs to renew itself from time to time because it has either outgrown its skin or it needs a facelift. We wanted to make the Pixo website a showcase of some of our best work and we feel that we have accomplished that with this new design.
Ten years ago we saw an opportunity in the under-severed small to medium sized business space to help great businesses get amazing websites and online marketing tools. The concept was simple. Partner with forward thinking companies, develop best of breed tools and bring more than a decade of experience to guide business owners through the plethora of online opportunities to help them find their niche and keep it within their budgets.

A wise business person once told me, "Go where the people are." With the massive growth of social media over the last 5 years it is easy to see where your customers are located these days and the numbers keep growing. It seems that everyone from young kids to grandparents are now using social media.
I often hear from new clients, "My site has great position in the search engines. I don't want to lose any ranking with the new site. How is Concrete5 with SEO?" The answer is, I've never seen any site moved over from another CMS to Concrete5 and lose any ranking. At least not any Pixo built Concrete5 website. The reason for this is that with Concrete5 you have complete control over the SEO elements of your website. Tagging pages, building search engine friendly URLs and XML sitemaps are all part of the standard Concrete5 offering. That isn't true with most out of the box content management systems. SEO setup and maintenance is made even easier with with the Bulk SEO tool which comes with the latest versions of Concrete5.
The other day we posted a position for a specific Denver web developer job that did not require a broad set of skills but needed someone to be very proficient in a single language. The job description listed that the position was "entry level" but also mentioned we were looking for a "guru" in a particular scripting language. A while later I got an email from the job post from someone saying, in less than kind words, that it didn't make any sense for a position to be entry level and say that we wanted a "guru." This blog post is a reply that individual.
Recently we put a new ecommerce website live for a client. She was thrilled about the new design and the flexability of the Concrete5 content management system but had some questions about things she wanted to do the future. There was functionality that she was thinking about that she didn't see in Concrete5 ecommerce add-on and that brought a number of questions.

We've been saying in for three years now and in the last year you've heard it even more how social media becomes a factor in how your website rankings on Google. There is no longer a silver bullet when it comes to great search engine optimization (SEO). It doesn't matter if you are doing SEO on your website for Denver, Colorado or if your potential clients are across the United States and Canada, proper search engine optimization takes on many different pieces and by doing it properly great rankings results occur.
Not only do we build world class website at Pixo and do amazing search engine optimization but we also find time for some fun. Some people might not consider growing giant pumpkins their idea of fun (it isn't a big thing in South Beach Florida for example) but I think anyone who sees a giant pumpkin for the first time are taken back to their childhood and fairy tale stories.
Have you seen the search results on Google that has the person's picture next to it? That is a part of Google Authorship. Would you like your Google Authorship picture added to your Concrete5 blog post listings in the search results?

The new release of Concrete5 5.6.1 is a nice upgrade. One of the irratating things that developers and users alike have run into, from time to time, is where you make a chance to a page on your website and either it doesn't appear or (even more irratating) it doesn't appear for everyone. The solution was to go and clear the site cache and usually that would fixed the problem.
